What Can Be Said? - September 1, 2005
Louisiana 1927
Music and Lyrics by R. Newman
What has happened down here is the winds have changed
Clouds roll in from the north and it started to rain
Rained real hard and rained for a real long time
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline
The river rose all day
The river rose all night
Some people got lost in the flood
Some people got away alright
The river have busted through cleard down to Plaquemines
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangelne
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
President Coolidge came down in a railroad train
With a little fat man with a note-pad in his hand
The President say, "Little fat man isn't it a shame what the river has
done to this poor crackers land."
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tyrin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away

CALICO Finds God Again! - April 21, 2005
The song "Deeper Truth" appeared in episode #20 of CBS TV' "JOAN OF ARCADIA" last week. Thanks for their continued support of my music!
European Solo Tour - April 20, 2005
May 23-June 23 I will be touring as support to my good friend, Joseph Parsons in France and Germany. If you have friends or family there, send them on out! Should be a really special run of dates.
Recording - Los Angeles 2005 - April 20, 2005
I just returned from LA where I cut 10 new tunes for the next record. As well as 3 great tracks with my band, I had the good fortune of recording with some fantastic musicians including David Kalish, Sheldon Gomberg, Tom Brechtlein & Neil Larson of The Rickie Lee Jones band as well as Barrie Maguire, George Stanford (Townhall), Jim Stager and others.
A cool moment was recording a song called "Nevermind My Blues" with Pete Thomas of The Attractions on drums. Sweet & funny guy, resplendent in hawaiian shorts! See some pix of the dudes in the gallery! I'd also like to thank the people at Sings Like Hell for putting on areally special night up in Santa Barbara. They know how to do it right.
For my next trick... - March 25, 2005
So, I know it would appear that I just released a record last year, but, in fact it was recorded almost 3 1/2 years ago today. In the meantime, I've written some new stuff and I'll be recording in the next couple months to see about getting a fresh one out soon.
I'll also be playing a show or two in Southern CA. MAybe we'll see you there! Otherwise, I have a few shows in the East up until summer then I'm headed to Europe for a month of solo shows. Keepin' busy. Keepin' on.
email list - March 22, 2005
So...maybe some of you got a fairly indecipherable email from me last week. Sorry 'bout that. It was supposed to be a test, but ended up being a test of my patience instead! That's what a little distraction can do. Alright now, focus!
I have an entirely new email system now. Users can delete, add, or edit their own info. Yay!
my apologies for email sins of the past. - BA
