Pistol For Ringo - With Shane Smith, Brian Murphy, Steve Arm & Matt Muir

PISTOL FOR RINGO "Slow Roller" ON ITUNES! MORE ABOUT PISTOL FOR RINGO!

LOOK FOR MUSIC FROM PISTOL FOR RINGO SOON ON SONATA CONTATA RECORDS!

Pistol For Ringo is an inspired rock art project originally conceived by Shane Smith and Brian Murphy in Los Angeles, California. They released an EP a few years back and then another full length record was completed shortly after. In the meantime, they lost their singer. One phone call later and I was on a plane to meet up with these guys and re-record most of that whole record which became "SLOW ROLLER". (Available now on iTunes, yo!).

Admittedly, we are a pretty disorganized lot and we take a long time to complete anything. We played some shows a couple years ago that truly rocked. A departure for me and for them too, I am sure. We have since partnered up with Sonata Contata Records to slooowly release new songs in small batches. The idea is more of a gallery for the work and not to necessarily sell boat loads of records I guess. But..if yer feelin' it. By all means, buy! It's a very cool quirky mix of Brian's otherworld guitar, Shane's outsider bass and loops, Steve's killer baritone and high as shite vocals along with some rootsy drums.

Not much to say here. The music speaks for it's self. Here's a vid and some quotes from the last record.

Pistol Goes Acoustic - "Love Is Like Water"

Solid State Neo-Hedonist is one of those rare indie debut releases that sounds like anything but a debut, and anything but an indie release. Pistol for Ringo display a propensity for the sophisticated both in lyrics and production, eschewing the obvious while still working within commercial pop/rock structures... The band demonstrates an ambition in its creation that suggests their potential for making an unreservedly great dream pop/rock album.

Initial Impression: I appreciate their honesty. Aside from admitting that they're not "reinventing the wheel", the first track dubs in the phrase "I just want to tell you, if you don't get it, that's cool." -- That's cool!... But don't be afraid -- they don't suck, I promise! The stuff is really pretty good. If you're a fan of old school synth (Devo, Gary Numan and the like) you'll dig this. Plus the integrated sound bytes are pretty fun!
- SCORE MAGAZINE

Overall, Solid State Neo-Hedonist is a worthy effort. Its lyrical depth and variety are a strong and important element in quality music. The album is very easy to listen to and shows that Pistol For Ringo are serious musicians out to make an impact on the world of music.

"A little more," indeed. Pistol for Ringo doesn't dumb down for the masses. Instead, it commands respect by sticking to its guns and making aggressively interesting music. Precisely what I like to hear.
- AIDING & ABETTING

This is an LA band that makes a great rock album and adds to it a flair for mixing and combing through great pastures of quoted knowledge as they give rock a load of intellect that's been a long time coming. "Masochistic" and "Levitate" stand out just to make you feel good, "Noir Du Monde" vibrates with Pistols' exceptional use of art culture and musical know-how; this is a band that will make you think as you tap your dash on the ride home.
